The construction of the Holtekamp bridge in Jayapura, Papua, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2018 is expected to generate economies in the local area. This was conveyed by President Joko Widodo during the construction of the Holtekamp project on Thursday, April 12, 2018.
“I think this will be the longest bridge that will be done to grow the tax point in Jayapura and its surroundings because it can shorten the distance from Jayapura city to Skouw which usually move, 2.5 hours, with this boat can be reached 1 hour,” said President.
The 1328-meter bridge including the 732-meter main span is located in Youtefa Bay that connects Jayapura City with Muara Tami District in Papua Province. Later the travel time from Jayapura City to the province of Skouw faster than the original 2.5 hours to 60 minutes.
The construction of the Holtekamp Bridge, in addition to facilitating connectivity, will encourage the development of the Jayapura City area to the east towards Skouw. This is also supported by the development of the Skouw area as the embryo of the economic center that has been completed by the State Border Postal Building (PLBN) and takes place with the development of the market.

Two Holtekamp Bridge spans

The construction of the building was financed by the state budget through the Ministry of Public Works and People’s Housing, while the Papua Provincial Government funded the construction of the approach from Holtekamp, and the Jayapura City Government built an approach from Hamadi. It is targeted for the entire bridge and completed roads by the end of 2018 to come.
The main construction work is Rp 943 billion, which is done by a consortium of PT contractors. PP as a leader, PT Hutama Karya and PT Nindya Karya.
