Trade Expo Indonesia 2017 Open, Strengthen Indonesia’s Role in Global Trade

The largest international trade fair in Indonesia, Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2017 was officially opened by President of Indonesia Joko Widodo today, Wednesday (11/10) at Indonesia Convention Exhibition Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE BSD), Tangerang, Banten. With the theme of “Global Partner for Sustainable Resources” Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita believes Indonesia is ready to become a partner of sustainable resource providers for global business actors, who want to further embed the nails in the global trading arena.
“The main focus of TEI is business-to-business transactions that are long term and international standard. The ultimate goal of the implementation of TEI is to increase Indonesia’s exports in the international trade arena, “said the Minister of Trade during his opening speech on the opening day of TEI 2017 in Nusantara Room, ICE BSD.
TEI 2017 was held for five days, ie on 11-15 October 2017. According to the Minister of Commerce, the TEI committee has scheduled about 33 signing of purchase mission contracts during TEI. Trade contracts are from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Egypt, Australia, Thailand, India, Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The approximate total value of the contract of trade is approximately USD 223.23 million. For the signing of the first day, the trade contract was worth USD 16.07 million. On the second day, the trade contract recorded a transaction value of USD 154.82 million. Meanwhile, on the third day the estimated contract value of USD 47.25 million, and on the fourth day of USD 5.10 million. “This value will certainly continue to grow during the implementation, even after TEI,” said the Minister of Trade.
The Minister of Trade also stated that most of the buyers who have registered to visit TEI are from Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Malaysia, Afghanistan and Australia.
“Up to October 10, 2017 there were 7,084 requests for Indonesian products on TEI 2017. The biggest demand so far is for food and beverage products; manufacturing products and services; as well as furniture, furnishings, and garden furniture, “said the Minister of Trade.
Minister of Trade emphasized this year TEI 2017 is very focused on bringing foreign buyers. To that end, the Ministry of Trade cooperates with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through 132 representative offices of the Republic of Indonesia, 23 trade attaches, 19 Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (IPP) offices, 1 Indonesian Trade and Economy Office, and 1 Trade Council and KADIN friendly countries in disseminating information about the implementation of TEI in foreign countries.
TEI 2017 occupies an exhibition area of ​​15,000 m2, enough to accommodate exhibitors who reach 1,089 national companies. Exhibitors are producers, exporters and suppliers of best products and services from Indonesia, ranging from manufacturing products, mining, strategic industries, to handicrafts.
To make it easier for buyers to find products of interest, the 2017 TEI area is divided into seven zones: the Nusa Food in Hall 1; Furniture and Furnishing at Hall 2 and 3; Premium Products, Ministries, and Institutions at Hall 3A; Strategic Industries, BUMN Goes Export in Hall 5; Manufacturing Products and Services at Hall 6 and 7; Foods and Beverages Products in Hall 8 and 9; and the Premium Products Catalog in Hall 10. There is also a special zone, the Zone Indonesia Design Development Center (IDDC) and German Import Dot Promotion Desk (IPD). Meanwhile, Pavilun Ministry of Commerce is in Hall 3A.
TEI 2017 prepares various activities outside exhibition activities, namely business matching and also Trade, Tourism and Investment Forum (TTI Forum). Business matching will be held during the 2017 TEI. Meanwhile, TTI Forum will be held on 11-14 October 2017. TTI Forum has several activities such as TTI Seminar, regional discussion, business counseling, export startup competition, and talk show.
At the opening of the 2017 TEI, the Government gave appreciation to the top exporters in the form of Primaniyarta Award to 22 companies that are actively exporting. Meanwhile, the Government will also award Primaduta to 33 foreign buyers who are loyal to buy Indonesian products, as well as one category of inspiring buyers from Australia.
Primaniyarta award recipients are divided into 4 categories, which include: 1) Performance Exporter Category (PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, PT Bumi Menara Internusa, PT Sekar Bumi, PT Gistex, PT Eratex Djaja Tbk, PT Bukit Muria Jaya, PT Bitratex Industries); 2) Exporter Category Global Brand Builder (PT Kalbe Farma Tbk, PT Insera Sena); 3) Categories of Exporters of New Market Pioneers (PT Ferron Par Pharmaceutical, PT Inagro Jinawi, PT Wax Industries Nusantara, PT Mega Andalan Kalasan); 4) Exporter of Potential Sector (PT Eastwind Mandiri, PT Bio Takara, PT Indoexim International, PT Supranusa Indogita, PT Ide Studio Indonesia, PT Laksmana Mulia Sentosa, PT Tischlerzentrum Bandung, CV Tashinda Putraprima, PT Kurniatama Lestari).
